Our client is searching for an ambitious engineer that has a passion for structural engineering principles, analysis, and design with a focus on offshore structures and the desire to further specialize in this field. They must demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team with strong mentors that are eager to teach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural engineering analysis and design for offshore structures, including platforms, subsea equipment, and associated components, using governing codes and standards.
- Conduct both static and dynamic analyses, particularly for offshore environmental loads such as wave, wind, and current forces.
- Develop and review shop drawings, ensuring compliance with offshore standards.
- Use advanced engineering and design software (e.g., SACS, Orcaflex, ANSYS) to prepare detailed engineering design documents.
- Conduct site investigations and field activities such as as-built drawing development, construction progress observations, and assessments of field conditions (e.g., corrosion, loading scenarios).
- Prepare comprehensive engineering technical reports, calculation packages, and contribute to design drawings and specifications.
- Support the preparation and review of project models, design plans, and specifications, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
- Apply critical thinking to offshore engineering challenges ranging from repairs and modifications to large-scale new construction projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis (required); Master’s degree in Structural or Offshore Engineering is a plus.
- Familiarity with structural engineering concepts and practices, particularly as they apply to offshore environments.
- 1-5 years of experience, with a focus on offshore structures, including brownfield projects, repairs, modifications, and integrity management.
- Proficiency with design codes such as API RP 2A, AISC, ASCE, and ACI; familiarity with ISO offshore standards is a plus.
- Experience with FEA tools and software such as SACS, Orcaflex, ANSYS, or SolidWorks is highly desirable.
- PE or working towards licensure (preferred).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver quality results.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in offshore structural analysis for platforms, jackets, and floating structures.
- Knowledge of corrosion protection techniques and material selection for offshore environments.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and other drafting tools.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required).
- Master’s or PhD (preferred).
Work Location:
- Mostly remote work environment with opportunities for site visits and fieldwork.
This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge offshore structural engineering projects, contributing to advancements in the energy and marine industries while fostering professional growth in a dynamic and challenging environment.
