Lead Geotechnical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Geotechnical Engineer to lead our client’s new office in Pittsburgh, PA.

This role will oversee project execution, mentor junior staff, and build strong relationships with clients, industry leaders, and local stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:

- Provide expert guidance and oversight on geotechnical projects including foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, retaining structures, and site investigations.
- Develop innovative solutions for complex geotechnical challenges and ensure high-quality project delivery.
- Serve as the technical authority for geotechnical engineering within the office, ensuring compliance with company standards, local regulations, and industry best practices.
- Lead project teams from feasibility studies through detailed design and construction support.
Business Development & Client Relations:

- Establish, maintain and grow relationships with local clients, including government agencies, contractors, architects, and developers.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities in the Pittsburgh area and surrounding regions.
- Prepare and present proposals, bids, and technical presentations to secure new work and contracts.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to enhance the company’s visibility in the region.

Project Management:

- Oversee project scope, budget, and timelines, ensuring that all deliverables meet client expectations and company standards.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including structural, civil, and environmental engineers to ensure project success.
- Manage contract negotiations, cost estimates, and project risks.
Mentorship & Staff Development:

- Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented office culture.
- Lead technical training sessions and support professional development initiatives within the office.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven expertise in geotechnical design and analysis, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
- Strong business development skills, including a track record of building client relationships and securing new work.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the Pittsburgh area and established connections within the local market is highly desirable.
