We’re conducting a targeted search on behalf of a respected, San Francisco-based structural engineering firm that’s actively growing their team due to a strong project pipeline. This is an opportunity for a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer to join a company that combines the mentorship of seasoned principals with the autonomy to lead meaningful work.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Real Work-Life Balance: 40-hour work weeks, hybrid flexibility (Tues–Thurs in-office), and generous PTO starting at 3 weeks.

  • Career Path to Leadership: Built-in opportunities to grow into senior engineering and project management roles, including client relations and business development.

  • Lead or contribute to projects from schematic design through construction documents and administration

  • Perform façade inspections and structural observations

  • Author technical reports and engineering documentation

  • Take ownership of projects—independently or in collaboration with a team

  • Apply seismic design principles and California building code knowledge across all structural materials

Ideal Background:

  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience in California

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. EITs considered.

  • Strong grasp of CA building codes and seismic design

  • Skilled in working independently and communicating effectively

  • Experience with wood, steel, concrete, and masonry structures

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary:

    • Project Engineer: $95,000–$125,000

    • Senior Project Engineer: Up to $140,000

  • Discretionary bonus (approx. 5%)

  • 3 weeks PTO to start; 4 weeks after 10 years

  • Automatic raise upon licensure

  • Health, hybrid work, annual increases, and more

About the Company:

This employee-focused firm has around 20 employees and a long-standing reputation for design excellence in the Bay Area. They pride themselves on thoughtful structural solutions, community-conscious projects, and a team culture that values autonomy, respect, and technical growth.
